Do You Make Enough Vitamin D?
See how
decreased Vitamin D is affecting the health of immigrants from equatorial
(sunny) climates to climates which allow for much less sun exposure, and
therefore much less Vitamin D production. As this article states, even
Schizophrenia is linked!

The Alzheimer's Connection

As many of our Silver Inner Health Circle™ members are aware, my father recently transitioned from this world to the next. He suffered for almost 10 years from the ravages of Alzheimer's disease. The effects of this disorder are initially and of course primarily, cognitive and mental, but eventually the process takes hold of the body and begins to cause a progressive downward spiral of the degenerative physical aspects. So, for the last 3 to 4 years Dad had things begin to go wrong with his body which ultimately caused him to become overwhelmed. He was a fighter, and put up a great fight, however ultimately the multiple infections, pneumonia, and peri-pleural effusion got the best of him.

TRTHINK RIGHT
  What's in Your Dash?

Many of you now know that I just recently lost my Dad. I was with him as he took his last breath and made the "Transition" that we will all make one day. The thing that became blatently apparent to me at that moment was Dad's
"Dash". We all have a dash that lies between our date of birth and our date of transition. That is what makes the difference. It is the impact that we have on the lives of others. So take a moment and enjoy this "Think Right" about your "Dash", and if you need to recalibrate your "Dash", now is the precise time to do it! I hope that you enjoy this as much as I did.

I Have to Take Back What I Said About SOY!

There comes a time in every person's life where he or she has to rethink his priorities. There also comes a time where we must all say: "You know that I was wrong." That can be a very hard thing for some of us to do because of things like pride, ego, and not wanting to "look bad". The truth of the matter is though if more of us would be willing to search for and espouse the "truth" then the looking bad part or even the egg on the face wouldn't be so bad. As a matter of fact it wouldn't even be noticed, because those who are listening and being affected by your actions wouldn't care and would actually appreciate it because they know that your real concern is "TRUTH".

Vitamin D Deficiency

Those of our Silver Inner Health Circle members who are weekend warriors or professional athletes you need to read this in order to boost your capacity to its Max! If you haven't read any of my articles on vitamin D, then you need to realize that you are probably deficient in this crucial vitamin. If you do nothing else you must have your vitamin D level tested and begin using a good source of supplementation like our whole food supplement from Standard Process Cataplex D.

lymectdAlzheimer's Connection - continued
You learn a lot about a person when you go through a process like this with him. I learned how much my father enjoyed people. That was apparent to me throughout my life, however it became more evident to me as Dad progressed through this disorder. Dad was the "Greeter" where he lived. He waved to everyone, and always said "Hi, how are you today" to visitors, residents, and staff. This became his purpose in life, to make other people feel comfortable, and welcome. You see Dad showed me that no matter how far along you are in the progressive and gradual process that we will all go through as we move along this plane of life, we still need a purpose. It doesn't matter what that purpose may be, it is still your focus, your "reason for existence." That "Purpose Driven Life" will keep you going. So, Dad did have a purpose, it was making others feel good. In that respect he truly was an inspiration. In spite of his difficult situation he would always have a smile, a handshake, and a kind word for others.

On numerous occasions as I would look at the other residents in the facility where Dad lived and I would think to myself "This is no way to live your life." For that matter it is no way to die either. These frequent and regular visits over the last several years further solidified my drive to assist more and more people in learning what they need to do to live longer, healthier, and more productive lives. Send to a Friend

You may have seen in the news that a panel of "experts" recently met at the National Institutes of Health to discuss whether there is any way to prevent Alzheimer's disease. Their consensus was that there is not. To this I say, as my Dad said many times about many "non-truths"  "Baloney". First of all we are just beginning to understand much about the disorder. Secondly as you in our Silver Inner Health Circle membership already know, the whole "it's genetic and there is nothing that can be done about it" is totally wrong, (read my article on "Epigenetics") and incongruent with our 4 Pillars of Health. No my friends there is plenty that can be done to prevent "Alzheimer's Disease". Not only do we have to clean up our diets, exercise regularly, and use our minds, we also need to clean up our personal environments. We need to use household and body care products which are not toxic to us. These products should not contain metallic contaminants for example. Check yours out here. Keep reading, studying, and learning about what you can do to avoid the devastating disorder. Please share anything that you come across or learn on the subject with us so that we can review its validity and share it with the rest of our Silver Inner Health Circle members. Together we can learn more and help more.

As my Dad was lying in the hospital bed one week before he made the transition my son Christian came to visit. As Dad looked up at his Grandson, Chris asked how he was doing and my Dad gave his routine answer: "If I were any better I'd worry". Dad always said that, no matter what the circumstances, because he didn't want anyone to worry about him. One week later Dad transitioned. Let's see to it that your "End of Life Transition" is even better than Dad's.

EatREAT RIGHT - continued
Having said that, I must admit that I have had to bend, change and sometimes even reverse some of the things I have said and taught over the last 25 years. So, now it is time for me to do a partial reverse on what I have told you in the past about soy and cancer.

This partial reverse is not a complete turnaround, though, because I'm referring specifically to soy protein. The studies that caused this partial about-face come from numerous reputable journals, including The Journal of the National Cancer Institute, The British Journal of Cancer, and The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

According to a 2006 issue of the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, "soy food consumption after cancer diagnosis, measured as soy protein intake, was inversely associated with mortality and recurrence." This effect was noted until soy protein intake reached 11 grams a day. After that, says a 2008 issue of the British Journal of Cancer, the association appears to level or "even rebound". Ah-ha! Dr. Pfeiffer has an out on this one. Well, not really, but I do want you to realize that, as I have said for years, too much of a good thing is not good! The "maximum strength" mentality in this particular case may not be the best mentality.

Another caveat is that those individuals who used the anti-cancer drug Tamoxifen had only "improved survival" when they consumed only low to moderate levels of soy food. Now, read this quote carefully: "... More importantly, women who had the highest level of soy food intake and who did not take Tamoxifen had a lower risk of mortality and a lower recurrence rate than women who had the lowest level of soy food intake and used Tamoxifen, suggesting that high soy food intake and Tamoxifen use may have a comparable effect on breast cancer outcome."

One other apparent finding from these studies was that these effects were evident for women who had estrogen-positive and estrogen-negative cancers. I would like to emphasize that the soy intake was definitely dose-related. As I stated, no further benefit and a possible "rebound" was experienced at 11 or more grams of intake.
