Here is what we say: "I remember when I was a kid the bald eagle was placed on the "endangered species list". This was due to a pesticide called DDT which was in wide use at the time. It caused the shells of the eggs of the eagle to become thin and brittle, and break while the parent was nesting. Well I am here to tell you that the American bald eagle will soon be taken off of the endangered species list. This took hard work and a groundswell of public support, and legislation to make the changes which now decades later have enabled this Great Creature to "come back" in all of its splendor! Chiropractic Corner  |
I have treated children and infants for 25 years successfully. Many of them now bring their own children in to me for an adjustment now. Many of those kids began treating with me before birth. I can say that because I adjusted many of their mothers when they were still in the "womb". My most recent experience with a future patient was when I adjusted a late term patient of mine whose baby was "inverted" (head up inside of Mom). The elated patient excitedly exclaimed on her next appointment that after her adjustment she felt "weird" and within an hour of her adjustment she felt the baby "flip" inside of her. She was subsequently examined by her pediatrician who confirmed that the baby was in the correct head down position. The really cool part of this story is that her "progressive pediatrician" actually referred this young Mom for Chiropractic care in order to correct this problem. This patient was so elated by this positive Chiropractic experience that she now wants her new "gift" to have his first Chiropractic adjustment as soon as he is born. She also wants her other 4 children to receive a Chiropractic examination and adjustment. This is what it is all about.
Oh by the way this wonderful experience saved this young lady from an unnecessary surgery which she would have been scheduled for had her son not have reversed his position in-utero, you guessed it a C-section. Read and watch media article

Radiation Fears and Iodine |
The Truth About Iodine
We have heard a great deal over the last several weeks about the 3 disasters that hit the island of Japan. We saw images of the effects of the earthquake on people during a seemingly "normal" day. We watched from the comfort of our living rooms as bookcases fell over, people dove underneath desks for cover, and expressions of terror swept across the faces of children and adults alike. For those of you who have been to one of my stress seminars I want you to think about the effects of just that part, on the physiology and overall health of these panic-stricken people. After all, a 9.0 quake has never occurred before, and considering the magnitude, the effects on buildings and infrastructure in Japan were not as bad as they could have been. GMO's and BGH's in our Food Supply
I would like all of our Silver Inner Health Circle™ members to hear this story again about the power of large corporations such as this to "control" the information regarding Human Health Hazards of their products. Things like Bovine Growth Hormone and GMO Foods which are now making their way into our food chain are and will have an effect on our collective Health as a species. The truth will be demonstrated either through empirical research or though direct observable health effects on our general population. The former method is far less costly to our society, but the latter is what may need to happen. I truly hope and believe that if we have to realize these truths as a result of our ignorance and greed that it is not too late/irreversible for our population. I don't mean to sound too melancholy, however if we don't take the health risks of things like BGH and GMO's, seriously we may be climbing a very slippery slope.

| Sleep Right Part 3 |
30 Tips For You to Use to Get Better Rest
Well we come to the end of our "saga". For those of you who have been following and "APPLYING" (remember Knowledge without Application creates Frustration) the things that I have been teaching you I am sure that you are sleeping more soundly. If you missed any of my previous recommendations you can catch up here for Part 1, and here for Part 2. I have received numerous positive comments from members about improvements not only in their sleep but other aspects of the "bedroom exercise" routine which are certainly outside of the scope and intent of this article. I think that may have been precipitated by the one of the last recommendations about clothing in which to sleep. I think that some of you may have enjoyed the "non-binding" aspect of that recommendation so much that you felt the "go without" option may have been the best, and perhaps that prompted the extra "Exercise". Well I suppose if this Sleep Right article actually helped some of you with your "Move Right" also, all the better.

Think Right - continued

I know that many of you out there have become concerned about current events in the world and in our country. I for one have faith in the spirit of the American people. I want you to know that change is important; in fact it is critical for our survival. I am here to tell you that just like the eagle making its incredible comeback you too can do the same. It doesn't matter what the trial is if you just have faith, put your head down and "Keep On Keeping On" you will succeed. I have seen this time and time again in my life, in my practices, with our Cleanse. The anticipated changes come to those who don't give up.
So my wish for you all is that you don't give up! That you "Keep On Keeping On", no matter what that means to you. It could mean to practice your "Eat Right" every day, and when you mess up, that you practice your "Think Right" and don't "beat yourself up". It could mean that you don't give up on your neighbor, husband or wife who needs your support. It could, and I believe does, mean that you do not give up on your country, and we will "Come Back" just like our National Symbol has. I will also receive a personal tour of the manufacturing facility. I have wanted to view this facility for a number of years now. I believe that it is important to see where and how the supplements that we use are made. That will take place June 24th &25th.
The second thing that I am excited about is that I have been invited to teach my Focus Health Seminar™ series "Stress and How It's Killing You" to a group of race track owners and managers from around the country. We all have to admit that we have stress in our lives but I can only imagine the stress that these individuals must experience every day in their occupations. Sleep Right - continued
|
O.K. let's continue with my last 10 recommendations. We are up to number 22 I believe. As a Chiropractor this one is very near and dear to my heart. You must choose the correct neck and head support, i.e. pillow. The pillow that you choose must be correct for you. The "one size fits all" mentality does not apply here. Look at people. Some have thick "bull" necks, some have long elegant necks. The key is that your head is supported in a neutral position. It should not be elevated too high or too low. This applies whether you are a side or a back sleeper (we DO NOT permit stomach sleeping). You'll also want to use a supportive pillow for your neck.
Number 23 is the importance of comfortable "bedding". The important thing here is "COMFORT". Cotton sheets are the best since they "breathe" and are absorbent. As you know nothing feels better after a long day than climbing into a freshly made bed with clean cotton sheets against your skin.
The next thing that you want to do is remove all of the "IT" from your sleeping area. That's right gang recommendation number 24 is that you must remove all of the "Information Technology" from the bedroom. No laptops, no i-pods, no i-pads. I would even say that you need to use a "real paper book" to read, not your "Kindle".
All of these IT products are stimulants to your brain and make it more difficult for your brain and body ("bodymind") to shut down, relax, and prepare for proper rest.
The next thing that you need is a "pre-sleep routine". You need to unwind before bed. That may mean taking a bath or shower, reading a "light or funny novel"or perhaps it means finishing a task so that your next day starts off fresh without any "tasks" to be completed before you can get moving with the activities of the new day. You may want to fold that laundry or clear the mess in the sink, or on your desk. Whatever your routine to relax or clear your mind, just do it every night. So our number 25 is "Establish the Relaxing Pre-Sleep Routine".
The next recommendation is one that will apply to parents of young children. It is also one that I have to say my wife and I had been guilty of in the past. You have to "Guard the Boudoir". That's right you have to establish a "No Kids Zone" in your bed at night. I know that this may seem very challenging to some of you parents of young children who have developed the habit of awakening and running into Mom and Dad's bed for comfort and an extremely restful night's sleep for- THEM!!!!! Generally however, this means that the night will be anything but restful for Mom and Dad. I can tell you from experience (years ago now) it is very difficult to sleep soundly with the sole of a little foot jammed into your ribs, or with about 6 inches of bed between you and the floor.
One idea that I have for "guilty Moms and Dads would be to establish a "Sleep Zone" for the little "midnight visitor". This could be a sleeping bag set up on the floor, or a makeshift "tent" constructed of pillows and blankets in the corner for the little "Rug Rat" (my very endearing term for these little night time visitors) to curl up on and get a good night's sleep while Mom and Dad slumber undisturbed.
That was recommendation number 26 for those of you who love to keep score. Let's move on now to recommendation number 27.
Here it is for those of you, who even after applying all of my previous recommendations are still having trouble making it through the entire night. If you still wake up then get up. In other words if you wake and in 15 or 20 minutes you are still up, then get up. Go into a different room. Keep the lights low and don't watch TV. Do something mundane and boring. Stargaze or read something relaxing like a daily devotional, the Bible, or the comics. Don't go on the computer or pick up your iPod or Kindle though. In about 15 minutes you should feel tired again and can get back in bed to enjoy the remainder of the night.
Recommendation number 28 is to "Move Right" (there I go again). I want you to stretch before you go to bed. This will not only loosen up those tight muscles and joints, but will also increase circulation to these tissues as well. It is a Great preparation for a relatively immobile period of sleep.
Remember also that I want you to gently stretch when you get up as well. Remember what your cat or dog does every time it gets up; that "Innate Stretch" occurs for a reason too, it limbers the joints and muscles to prepare you to move.
We're coming down to the 'clubhouse turn" now (I am starting to use that "race horse lingo" since I will be speaking to 150 race track owners and managers June 15). Now for number 29 and our next to last recommendation for better sleep. This one has a significant side benefit. You see by "Sleeping Right" you will actually assist your body in regulating your weight. That's right. If you sleep 8 hours per night you will not gain weight as readily. For one thing, if you think about it there will not be as many waking hours in the day in which to shove food into your mouth. Also when you are tired your "metabolism" is off and you tend to eat more to keep you going. So, sleep more and lose weight.
Alright, drum roll please! And now for our number 30 recommendation. In order for you to improve your "Sleep Right", you must understand that the brain continues to function while we sleep. For some of us it may function better than while we are awake. This is the time when learned behavior becomes solidified into our "memory banks". This is why it is important for students to get enough sound sleep in order to learn. But this also applies to the rest of us as well. We need to "ingrain" those things that we learned the day before, into our memories. This is why you may not recall the name of someone who you just met yesterday. So improve your memory power by getting enough sleep.
O.K. all of you Silver Inner Health Circle members out there, that is all you need to do. Just incorporate all of these recommendations that I have made and sleep better. O.K. let's understand that there are many caveats about sleep that I have not shared with you in spite of the length of this series of articles. We need to realize that the "biorhythms" for everyone are different. I for example have always been a morning person. I have always gone to bed and awakened early. My wife on the other hand had always been a night owl. Studies indicate that teenagers have a totally different 'cycle" than adults. This is why most college kids naturally like to stay up until about 2 or 3 a.m. and sleep until 12 or 1 p.m. This is their natural "cycle". Unfortunately we try to fit them into our schedule. Perhaps this is why many kids "sleep" through all of their a.m. classes and don't learn much.

Radiation and Iodine - continued  |
Then the Tsunami hit. We then saw images that we hadn't seen since the devastating effects of the Indonesian Tsunami a number of years ago. So, now we notched up the "Stress Effect" even further and all of the physical and physiological effects of stress began to negatively impact the Health of these individuals. For example they had an increase in heart rate and blood pressure, their cholesterol levels went up, libido reduced and their ability to reproduce was compromised, their immune function reduced significantly, clotting factors and their ability to "heal" were reduced. Remember those two things because they will become more important to us in our discussion later.
Next we had the "triple play" in Japan's National Disasters, the failure of the last of multiple redundant systems designed to keep water flowing to the series of nuclear reactors which had produced much of the electric energy for the inhabitants of the island. Since fresh water was no longer being pumped in to cool the "rods" in the reactor the rods began to heat up beyond their safe level and we began to see excessive hydrogen gas production and accumulation in the reactors. This in turn caused explosions which damaged the containment vessels, which are the last line of mechanical defense against the escape of radioactive contamination to the external environment. We then witnessed individuals being evacuated a distance of 80 kilometers from the reactor site and we are now seeing heroics of volunteer workers putting themselves in harm's way to do what they can to try to minimize the extent of this catastrophe.
What did we see next on our TV screens? We saw people being checked using "dosimeters", which are devices designed to detect radiation in individuals suspected of having been exposed to the "odorless, invisible" radiation rays. Did you notice in the TV images where the technicians where placing the "probe" of the instrument to test. Those of you who were observant saw that they were testing first over the throat. This is where the "Thyroid Gland" is located, and this is what they were specifically testing. They also tested down low in the "groin region". Here they were testing the "Gonadal Tissue", or the reproductive glands.
Why you may ask were they keying into these 2 areas? Well there is a simple two-part answer to this. First, these two areas are "highly metabolic" meaning that they are working fast and hard. The "metabolic engines" are working hard and fast and therefore are using a lot of "stuff" fast. Some of that stuff that they are using is what is produced as a radioactive byproduct of the process of "nuclear fission" in a nuclear reactor. The byproducts of this process include Cesium-137, Plutonium, Uranium, and our concern today Iodine-131.
Now, the reason that this is such a significant health concern and something that can be tested as a first sign of "radiation poisoning", or at least as an excessive radiation load, is because we are all deficient in iodine! That's right you, your parents, your children, your grandchildren, and virtually anyone else who you see walking down the streets of your home town is deficient in good, wholesome, Health Inducing Iodine.
You see Iodine used to be found in our soils hundreds of years ago. This essential nutrient was depleted from our soils and is no longer found there. In the 1920's, and 30's here in the U.S., particularly in the mid-west we began to see a plethora of individuals developing goiters. A goiter is essentially a gross enlargement of the thyroid gland. The federal government then began to require that all salt being sold in the U.S. be "Iodized". In response, the US government mandated that table salt would be "iodized". This meant that iodine was attached to the salt particles so that citizens would get just enough Iodine to just keep them from developing a goiter. Did you hear what I said? Enough to keep them from developing a goiter Does Not Mean Enough (or as we say in the Center, "SUFFICIENCY").
So now that those of you who stuck with me through all that are still with me let's dispel all of the Fear Mongering about getting and taking your POTASSIUM IODIDE TABLETS. You may have seen in the news that there is currently a shortage of potassium iodide (iodine) supplements due to "FEAR" over the potential for the radiation from Japan coming here to the states.
Well let's dispel some rumors/myths right here, since the Antidote for Fear is Information. So, let's get a few of the facts clear here and now. Iodine does not protect you from radiation poisoning. Iodine however will protect you from Iodine-131 Induced Thyroid Cancer. This occurs for one reason only. I want you to stick with me now. First of all understand that as I have already pointed out we are all deficient in Iodine (at least those of you who have not been supplementing with Iodine). Secondly the "Iodine Binding Sites" on your thyroid gland will bind chlorine, fluorine, and bromine in place of Iodine when it is not present. You have a plentiful supply of chlorine in your body if you drink city water. You also get fluorine from fluoridated tooth paste. The bromine comes into your body in the form of bromine in baked goods like bread (which all of our Cleanse Graduates, and Silver Inner Health Circle members know you should avoid). So, if you are Iodine Deficient, (which you are) you will bind these other 3 elements to your thyroid gland. Now if for some reason you were to come in contact with Iodine-131 (the radioactive form of Iodine) your body will drop off the chlorine, fluorine, or bromine, and bind to the Radioactive Iodine. Because it likes Iodine better than the other 3, and it doesn't know if it is radioactive or not.
I would like to take this one step further now. If you had been supplementing with Potassium Iodide supplements like many of my patients in the Center, you would have attained sufficiency and there would be no way that your thyroid gland would bind the radioactive form of Iodine (I-131).
Let me wrap things up here with a summary of what I have presented to you here. First of all the Japanese population has had a significant "Stress Response Reaction" to the events following their recent earth quake. This has compromised their Immune System Function. Secondly, there has been a "Nuclear Breach" from one or more Japanese nuclear reactors. I want to be clear that the potential that this nuclear material will make it to our shores, at least at this time, appears remote. Thirdly, supplementing with Iodine (which you all should have been doing for other reasons and under the supervision of your health care provider) will not protect your entire body from radiation such as that released from the Japanese Nuclear Disaster. The only component that Iodine will assist in protecting you from is the radioactive form of Iodine (I-131). It will do nothing to protect you from other forms of "ionizing radiation such as Cesium-137, plutonium, or uranium. The only gland that will be protected to any significant degree is the Thyroid gland.
I hope that this will assist you all in understanding the recent events and how they will impact on the Health of the Japanese population. I also hope that I dispelled the rumors about Iodine so that the current shortage of Potassium Iodide will be short lived. (I just checked yesterday and we have a plentiful supply here at the Center, so our patients will not run short.)

This is something I have never seen before, or ever even heard of. This woman lives in a Hummingbird fly zone. As they migrated, about 20 of them were in her yard. She took the little red dish, filled it with sugar water and this is the result.
The woman is Abagail Alfano of Pine, Louisiana - she has been studying them daily and one morning put the cup from the feeder, with water in it, in her hand;
as they had gotten used to her standing by the feeder they came over to her hand. She says in touching they are as light as a feather. Abagail also said, 'if she had known her husband was taking pictures she would have put on makeup.

Interesting Cell Phone Statistics
|

Here are a few interesting findings from some recent research studies regarding cell phones:.
1. A recent study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that continuous cell phone use for 50 minutes caused significant changes in "brain glucose metabolism.".
2. Recent studies in the U.S. and many other countries demonstrated that men who carried their cell phones in their fronmt pockets had reduced sperm counts.
3. 5 breast cancer cases in young women have been traced to carrying cell phones inside of bras.
I just got a new smart phone which I am trying to figure out where to carry on my person. The bra is out, although I do occasionally place it in a breast pocket on the left side. I can only imagine what I am doing to my heart. I think that I have to carry it in a "lead lined box.". No, nNo that one is out too;, I am sure that I would come up with lead poisoning.
We have evaluated "screens" at the Center that are purported to "filter out" a percentage of the micro-wave radiation. We will keep you posted on that one.
Let's all be cautious with the duration of time that we use cell phones and how we carry them on our bodies.
